Steamy yoga method fires up a health trend

More and more people are becoming hot yoga enthusiasts. Around Marquette, Bikram, seems to be the Michael Buble of all yogas. The first hot yoga series developed was Bikram, and it requires the room to remain at least 105 degrees, with 45 percent humidity. Classes are 90 minutes long, and include the same 26 postures and two breathing exercises. Postures remain at a beginning level and are executed the same way every time so yogis can practice and perfect them to gain maximum benefits.

Haggerty’s ‘Pairings’ shows unexpected parallels

From Oct. 14 to Jan. 17, the Haggerty Museum of Art is presenting an exhibition that uses the power of context to its full potential. “Pairings” presents works from the Haggerty’s collection in a completely innovative manner. Throughout the museum, visitors can be surprised and intrigued by the juxtaposition of works that may appear unrelated upon first glance.
Upon further examination, however, it is clear that the placement of the art is strategic. Works are “paired” based on different themes or elements common among the pieces.
