In Tuesday's Jan. 27 edition in the article entitled "Pauly says university okay despite economy," quoted University Provost John Pauly saying last year at this time the university had an endowment of $64 million. Pauly was referring to a Dec. 2008 report which states that new gifts to the endowment last year totaled about $64 million, and that contributions to Marquette today (the annual fund) totaled about $5.,”In the article "Pauly says university okay despite economy" from Tuesday's edition, Provost John Pauly was incorrectly quoted as saying the total amount of the university's endowment at this time last year was $64 million. Pauly was referring to a Dec. 31, 2008 university report that states that new gifts to the endowment last year totaled about $64 million. Contributions to Marquette Today, the annual fund, totaled about $5.9 million. The university's endowment was $357,300,000 in 2008, according to a survey released Tuesday by the National Association of Colleges and University Business Officers. That represents a 0.8 percent drop from 2007. The Tribune regrets the error.”

MPC Computers bytes the dust

Marquette ended its partnership with MPC Computers when the company started having financial problems in 2008. Frustrated students who purchased the laptops now have no way of getting them fixed. The laptops have various problems, the most common being motherboard replacement.
