The Marquette men’s tennis team took part in tournament-style action at the Purdue Fall Invitational this past weekend.
In doubles action, the duo of sophomores Cameron Tehrani and James Stark advanced to the second flight on Saturday with an 8-5 win over Toledo before dropping their second match to nationally-ranked host Purdue.
Junior Dan Mamalat scored a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Michael Tries of Western Michigan on Saturday and advanced in the main draw before losing in the next round 7-5, 6-4 to Zach Mueck of Xavier. Tehrani advanced in the main draw as well with a 6-3, 6-2 win over his opponent from DePaul, before dropping his second match 6-2, 6-0 to Green Bay’s Michael Tenzer.
The duo of Mamalat and sophomore David Packowitz was forced out of the main draw on Sunday due to injury after an 8-4 win over Iowa and an 8-6 win over DePaul on Saturday.
Stark fell in the quarterfinals of Flight B with a 8-2, 7-6 loss to Xavier’s Phil Diaz, and Packowitz suffered a tough 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 defeat at the hands of Toledo’s Brian Dudzik in the consolation draw.
