Growing up

By Lindsay Fiori. Published January 12, 2009.

This year, winter break seemed quite long to me – in a good way. I spent plenty of time relaxing, catching up with friends and seeing family. Because of that, I thought the adjustment back to school would be a bit tricky. I had gotten pretty used to not working, to sleeping til noon and to having my meals cooked for me again. But as soon as I was back in my apartment and on campus, it felt like I never left. I can remember freshman year dreading the return to school, but this year, as a senior entering my last semester, I was ready. I’ve realized this is all a part of growing up and being on your own, and I like it. Even getting up at 7 a.m. for work seemed like a welcome change. Most of my senior roommates agreed and I’m wondering if other upper classmen have experienced this. I’m taking it as a sign that I am ready for the real world and I’m hoping others feel the same and are ready to tackle whatever comes next.
